Wayside Cross

I saw this wayside cross beside a private home in Kranzberg, Bavaria, in 2017. It is an example of a type found in southern Germany, Croatia, Austria, and perhaps elsewhere in the region. At the foot of a typical crucifix and directly beneath the corpus will be a statue of the Virgin Mary standing alone.

Compare a larger, more elaborate version in Munich's Peterskirche, where the Virgin Mary is portrayed as Our Lady of Sorrows.
